I'm sorry to say that after I received my FinAid packet today, I now have no chance of going to Midd. My mom is a single parent school teacher, and they expect her to pay $17,000 a year. The Princeton Review said that they had poor financial aid, and I believe it.

(: I hope that now one of you waitlisters can get in :) Have fun at Midd!

sorry to hear that tansytroll. the fin aid office will usually budge a little if pressed, so if you're serious about Midd, you could call them and explain the situation. If you're not serious about Midd, then nevermind and open up a spot for someone else...

.........NO WAY DOES MIDDLEBURY HAVE POOR FINANCIAL AID..I JUST RECEIVED MY PACKAGE TODAY..middlebury alone gave me a grant of $37,025...WOW..that's AMAZING!!

they expect my parents to pay about 2,000 dollars...they have the best finaid ive seen so far..(not countin ivies of course)

btw..if your mom is single..and your parents are divorced...they still take your dad's income into consideration because they expect both parents to pay..i wouldve suggested acting like youve never met your father and u dont know who he is..that wouldve helped

does that mean you'll be coming? you've been such a presence on the middlebury thread-- i really want to meet you AT middlebury lol. and yeah, i actually had pretty good financial aid. not as good as that, but pretty good. also, how did you end up being forced to use that sn?

that's really good advice sexydesi, my fin aid app has been on hold for months becuase I can't give them my father's address in hong kong b/c I have no idea what it is! it is so frustrating because they don't care. my app is still on hold. i don't know what to do! any suggestions?

u dont knwo ur DAD....they expect parents to contribute...but come on they need to face reality..al parents dont care for u like that...actually a midd student told my friend to do that..to say that she doesnt know her dad..even though seh does...but he doesnt really give her anything or help with anything so he really isnt there..jesame...i couldnt make a sn on this site for some reason...i guess my ip Ad..or something..after i was banned..sweet..along time ago!!!!...anyway..so my friend made it...and he made this ugly one...its soo not me.....my usual sns are like seriousmis or imischievousimis..omg jesame...i just realize I WOULD MEET u if i went..hehe....i really do wanna go...ill see what happens..waiting for a couple of other schools

my finicial aid package seemed really generous, but then again it is like the second one that i have recieved...so maybe i dont' really ahve soemthing to compare it to

wow $37k thats fantastic!!
tansy u should definitely try to appeal for more, thats what i did and they increased my aid twice by a total of about 50%

Interesting view of financial aid. Tansytroll's father is deceased. I am single school teacher mother. They expect her to leave with almost $80,000 in loans. It isn't going to happen. Best financial aid we have seen so far is American and Amherst.

I got $35000 in grants too, and $4000 in loans and my expected family contribution is $3800. It's still quite alot for my family, I'm in such a dilemma now, more details on my other "dilemma" post.

I got crappy financial aid too. I received a grant for about $31k, and they expect my family to about $13k a year- that figure is outrageous. I received another package from Lafayette College and they are giving 39k. I dont know about you guys, but 8k a year makes a huge difference for my family. Goodbye Middlebury, good luck those on the wait list.
