<p>My brother did way worse off this year (in-state). Last year he applied so late and was given a fantastic package, plenty of grant money. This year he got one very tiny tuition waiver, one small subsidized loan, and an enormous parent plus loan. </p>

<p>Even if my parents wanted to do the loan, if it involved actually qualifying, I doubt they could qualify for $100 much less the nearly $19k the loan was offering. I’m really not sure what they are going to do. Bleh. He’s really happy there and it would be so late to pursue transferring anyway.</p>

<p>being instate i can pretty much tell you that the illinois government sucks and is completely bankrupt, and since UIUC is a public institution, the government gives it very very very little money which reflects in its financial aid offerings.

<p>I already have a SSN but an international student, would they make me elligible ? I did not bother to apply as there is almost never any aid for international undergrads.</p>
