Financial Aid

Just out of curiosity.. a friend suggested this to me - if a school doesn't contact you that parts of your financial aid app are missing (i.e. in my case the 2007 tax returns), does that mean generally that you aren't going to be admitted? I'm just wondering, because I contacted Dartmouth's FinAid office and notified them that I was waiting on the return of my tax returns, so until I get them back, I can't send in the IDOC. However, I did submit my FAFSA and CSS profile.

Any views?

I was wondering the same thing....

But Dartmouth and Bowdoin both contacted me about problems with my financial aid.... and I got a likely letter from both places (or an "early write" from Bowdoin). THEN I realized only the schools who I heard early from contacted me about finaid.... so perhaps it doesn't make a difference. But I guess you will know in a few hours! =) Goodluck!

I know that this isn't about Dartmouth but I applied to Cornell ED. They were missing my parents' tax forms and I emailed them numerous times about it but they never replied. Ultimately, I was deferred, along with several other applicants who were in the same situation, so it's possible that your assumptions are correct. Sorry to put a damper on things, but you never know. Maybe Dartmouth is different. We'll all find out soon.

Both the offices are different. So I wouldn't worry about it. MIT kept poking me for missing parts but they kicked me out in the end! :D

Good Luck!:)

If it makes you feel any better, I received a likely letter and was admitted to Rice, and they didn't tell me they were missing my Fin Aid documents until after I was admitted!
