i'm in the 100 to 150 k bracket and i got nothing but loans. i did get the 10k per year merit scholarship, but my parents still refuse to pay more than 25k for any school per year. pomona gave me 20k in free aid, and 10k more in zero-interest loans. why did harvey mudd screw me over? what should i do? i'm a math/science guy and have always wanted to go to harvey mudd.

call financial aid and talk to them. I was able to squeeze some money out of them.

Does HMC ever give full need-based fin aid? (other than the merit-based President's Scholarship?

Is the President's Scholarship just an update Corporate Scholars?

i'm really considering going to pomona and cross-enrolling a lot at harvey mudd for math/science courses. is this a bad idea?

Seiken,

Yes, PSP is what used to be CSP. Got our package today. Best FA so far, besides the free ride at state U.

Is there is anyone at Mudd who gets the $10K merit award, can you tell me if it offsets the need-based Mudd Scholarship? Trying to figure out how things stack (or not) before I call FA.

I'm pretty sure that they will offset. S1, a frosh, has the $10K and NM scholarships, but did not have a need-based scholarship last year despite qualifying for a subsidized loan and work study.

Then again, maybe the merit award will offset some other aspect of the need package, and not the scholarship/grant. That may be negotiable, particularly with a very strong applicant like your son; won't hurt to try. (We didn't try to negotiate because of anticipated ineligibility for financial aid after first year.)

I think it currently offsets, but ive heard that this might change in the future (someone about to grad was *****ing). call finaid imo
