I was thinking about taking some courses this spring and was wondering about financial aid. Does anyone know if there are any grants or aid for parents of children with medical disabilities?

Are you aiming for a degree of some sort? if so you can file FAFSA and apply for need based financial aid. Whether you qualify will depend on your income assets etc.

I don’t know of any specific aid for parents of children with medical disabilities. However if you incur higher than average expenses due to those disabilities you may be able to ask the school for special circumstances adjustments to reflect those expenses.

Try running your income and asset information through an EFC calculator like the one at [FinAid | Calculators | Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and Financial Aid](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Expected Family Contribution (EFC) Calculator - Finaid)

This will give you an idea of your EFC (Expected Family Contribution) on which aid is based. (Roughly speaking your need, on which aid is based, is calculated by taking your EFC away from the school’s COA (Cost Of Attendance).

Usually there is no aid for someone who is just taking courses one semester. You have to apply to a college and be in a degree or certificate program no matter if it is a community college or university.

thanx for your help. I appreciate it…
