I was wondering what type of financial aid I should expect to see from PSU. I have a family of six people. I have a twin brother also attending college this upcoming year. My dad is unemployed right now as work is slow. My EFC on FAFSA was in the 6000-7000 range. I don't want to be too specific. I know PSU is a huge school and therefore doesn't give huge amounts of aid, but I was wondering what range of money I could get from them basing off those of you familiar with the PSU aid. I am an in-state student.

I was wondering the same...my EFC was a little less than 3000 and I'm wondering how much aid I can expect to receive from a big school like PSU.

It will really matter on what college you are entering. Unless your GPA and SAT are above avg and/or in the SHC don't expect much (I know some people that received 0). Some schools and depts will offer some money but that will range.

I don't mean merit scholarships, I'm talking about need-based aid. Based on FAFSA government grants and aid.

unless your EFC is around 0 you wont get much besides qualifying for the federal loans.

hahahah I'm going to be in debt up to my neck for the next 15 years.

Lol dont expect much aid at ALL....I had an EFC of 2k? coming in and I still had I think 8-10k out of pocket (or at least was expected to.) Of course once I was up here I got all squared away and got the AID I needed (AKA financial aid office everyday for 2 weeks straight.) I also had some bad circumstances so I got more AID.

In general Penn State seems to give you more AID after you've been here for at least a year ;).

Im in the college of engineering for ref.

My EFC has always been below $500, and I had to pay 8-10k out of pocket every semester. It sucks.
