i’m waiting for the financial package coming this week by snail mail. for my D and i can see that already people are getting good packages but do you know if it’s by needs or merits or both?

^ I would also like to know the answer to that, anyone?

I'm following this. We will post soon, I hope.

They are being VERY generous with merit-- i received 27000 just for merit.

we'llsee, if you applied for fin aid, did it list that too? or just merit?

we'll see - care to post stats? Did you get fin aid on top of the 27000?

That is only the money that i received for the Presidential Scholarship, not need based financial aid. And sure
i'm...
4/328
2030 SATs
great recs, alright essays
loads of ECs (big ones include editor of yearbook for 3 years, 3 time national DECA qualifier, newspaper, environmental)

good luck you guys!

we'llsee - thanks for the stats - nice! Congrats.

My S got $27K in a Presidents Scholarship and into the Honors program.

We got a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan for $5500 for the year. What can anyone tell me about this type of loan? I heard it's not worth it. Thoughts? (First of 3 kids headed to college so a novice to all of this.)

Thanks.

S got 18,000 merit and 6,000 in unsubsidized loans
31 ACT
2020 SAT
3.8 w gpa

^ My D received the Dean's Scholarship = $18000 +6500 loans + rest in grants= $49837(grand total)! not bad with act= 31 sat=2000 gpa=3.83

can I get an estimate on what someone thinks I would be able to get in merit aid because i'm interested in applying next year
white, male, 4.00 UW, school doesn't weight, 1/80, 32 ACT but will retake to improve, lots of ECs, and obviously no idea about recs or essays yet

bbuummpp..

coooool, got 18,000 Dean's Scholarship! And some loans. Still waiting on other schools though - hopefully this is a sign that everybody's being generous this year, considering, oh, you know, the economic crisis....
