Does any one know when the aid packages are due out and is Bard generous?

I am also wondering this too, because I applied EA and have yet to hear back.

i know that on average, they meet about 90% of your need...

Matt that is good news. Are you a current student there? Have you heard anything about an accepted students day? Know anthing about their Biology Dept.?

i'm not a student; i was accepted idp in november. that's just what collegeboard.com says...i think it's pretty reliable

Are you definately goping to Bard? My daughter is very interested in going there. She applied for the Distinquished scientist award so we are anxious. They said we would here in March. Do you know anyone who goes to Bard? We don't. As I understand it there are no sleepover unless you know someone. Know anything about the Biology Dept.?

no idea about sciences...sorry i'm a theatre person haha. um, i know a couple people there.
i'm definitely going if the FA is good

I mean Bard is definitely at the top of my list but like I said I have yet to recieve anything back in regards to aid and i'm getting nervous.

it all comes in april

^ok then. I guess I just gotta wait it out.

Mattman13 I cold not find where on collegeboard.com it talks about financial aid rates. Please help.

go to bard's page and then click on it's "cost and financial aid" tab...it should be about in the middle of the page

Thanks, I found the information.

Will they give more aid if you got a merit scholarship? I was lucky enough to get the equal cost scholar thing but are they likely to give more?

ive found with all my aid packages so far that they balance out
for example, if i got a 9,000/year scholarship at beloit college in wisconsin and i got 21000 need based aid, for 30000 total, that would likely be approx what i get at most of my other school even without merit based aid…
to explain it slightly better, no…merit aid is just another part of your total package, which goes towards meeting your demonstrated need (efc)

oh ok thanks. does anyone know when we can expect the packages? The acceptance letters said something about late March and early April and late March has passed. lol

Bard comes up with nothing. #1 choice is a done deal. I guess they feel we can afford $220,000 cash. ha ha

My D received hers yesterday - $8K scholarship and $3500 in loans. It comes in the same size envelope as the acceptance, but it’s pretty thick.

I’m new to “financial aid”. Can anyone offer a clear description of how FA works?

Tranquil18 said his daughter got $8000 and $3500 in loans. Mattman13 said he also got $30,000 in need-based aid. Are we talking about the cost of attending Bard minus the amount of money that the FAFSA/CollegeBoard people think you should be able to pay?

my son, really wants to go to Bard, and we would love that too…but Suny Binghamton is 19 K for everything, which is a a bit mouth watering, so we are waiting and seeing, maybe it will be in the mail today.
