Financial aid

Anyone get their financial aid letter yet? The website said they were mailing them on the 31st. It's the last piece of information we need before we can start making some decisions!

we were told at Scholars day on Monday that everyone would know financial aid packages by the end of this week.

Thanks for the info - here's hoping that everyone gets an FA package that is worthwhile!

I recieved mine today, and it was much better than I imagined it would be!

I got 20k from an Achiever Scholarship and 5k in loans.

I think I'm still leaning towards UNC.

^ That's exactly like mine. I was surprised! I am still waiting on other schools' FA though.

Is the Achiever Scholarship completely merit-based? I was really surprised to recieve such a large amount of aid, in contrast to my higher EFC.

Yes and congratulations!
From the Furman website -

Honor and Achiever Scholarships, which are awarded based on students' academic profiles, require only the application for admission. These funds are awarded for a maximum of four years (eight semesters).

Honors and Achiever Scholarships are based entirely upon a student's academic profile, so they are totally merit-based. Congratulations to all of you on your awards.

Received the news today that D received a $20,000 Achiever scholarship as well. She considered applying for the new OOS scholarship, but never got around to writing that extra essay, so this is a happy surprise! Congrats to all that got acceptances and/or FA packages from Furman!

Hey if any of you guys who got Achiever/ Honors scholarships can post your stats, that would be great, even though you probably aren’t around :(
