Financial Aid!!!!!!!!

Is it that unlikely for an international student to receive a full financial aid from boarding schools? Do you happen to know any international student who received full financial aid?

(Also, are boarding schools need-blind to international students? - I will contact them on Monday. I just posted here in case anyone knows.)

Thanks

International students can receive financial aid - partial or full depending on need and fit.

But the chances are smaller. I haven’t studied all schools’ FA policies, but at Exeter, the boarding school with the largest endowment, it’s clearly stated that FA is mainly open to US and Canadian citizens, and that only limited funding is available to international students.

Yes. In fact, our experience has been that most schools are very explicitly NOT providing financial aid to foreign students. I suppose it is possible, under a unique circumstance or a truly unique candidate match with a school need, but I suspect you’d have to be a highly sought-after candidate first (already have applied, gone through the admissions process), and then negotiate once they’ve notified you of acceptance.

Just my perspective based on a fall of visiting 7 top-tier schools in the northeast.

Best of luck. Let us know if you get different feedback from the schools you call

TomTheCat, from England, got a full-ride to Andover… He’s the only intl that I know of that got FA.

I literally live 5 minutes away from the American border… ugh, life = unfair

^^ not interested in Exeter (i don’t stand a chance), so not good :)

ehhhh, but still. i read that somewhere else also… i just forget where… but you’ll do wonderful anyway. the schools’ FA policies can’t differ that much.
