I was just wondering what the highest FAFSA EFC is where you can still get financial aid (not counting loans) from UNC. The number we were given shocked us, as we are in the in between place where we are better off than some but cannot pay full tuition. Thanks!

UNC meets 100% of all demonstrated financial need (Cost of Attendance-EFC)

I realize that, but how do they calculate EFC? Do they take the exact number from the FAFSA, or do other factors count?

Anyone???

Federal aid eligibility is determined by the FAFSA’s EFC, while institutional (UNC-sourced) aid is generally determined via the PROFILE.

UNC will provide a full aid package (including grants, loans, and work study) meeting the full difference between your EFC (as they calculate from the CSS PROFILE) and the complete cost of attendance (including not just tuition/fees but also living expenses and, beginning this fall, health insurance) for your residency designation.
