financial aid?

I don't understand how to read my ePal. There is a number for the Net UCLA costs but, off to the side, there is a different number for my expected family contribution as generated by my FAFSA. The difference is in the thousands so which is the amount that my family is suppose to pay? can anyone help me?

the one on the financial aid award fafsa is nothing now.

thanks, a little disappointed but thanks!

yah for financial aide, when i looked into my.FAO it said “this website is only for ucla students only” but ive been accepted there…does that mean i gotta do SIR before i can see the FA?

mine says “Sorry, there are no Notices available for you to view for the period selected. Please select another Academic Year”

does this mean i didnt get anything?

Well UCLA sent a email this weekend about updating their FAO. So if you can log in and sign up and activate your account (not in this order) you can see your fin aid, like i did.

Nox

Is the estimated aid on the bottom of the fao what we should expect in terms of costs?

You should have gotten an email confirming that they received your FAFSA and another email from UCLA sending you to the site to check your estimated aid. Once at the site, log in with your ID and UCLA login. The numbers on the side are what they calculated that you(the student) and your parents will each contribute per year. Personally, I received no aid. Sad times.

Same for me Nox…what should i do? Do I have to accept admission first??

I got it. I’m getting $20,500 in UCLA Aid. I just got a $25,000 a year scholarship. I’m not paying a cent outta pocket, and I don’t need to fill out any more scholarships. WOOOOOOOT

So what does this mean? I’m getting $25k a year from a school scholarship. I’m getting $20,000 from UCLA. I’m about $15,000 over what I need… So what happens to that money? Goes to waste?? Or do I still get it???

if the 25k is written to your institution…it means it covers 25k, and ucla prolly lower its aid to 5k and that covers your total expense, and you keep none. if the 25k is written to you…heck you keep all the money

what if i made a major mistake on my fafsa and summit my correction, when you get the update of my financial stuff on the ucla website?

are all financial aid info already out? or is it just me?
cause it still says “Not Available” or “not available for this award period”
