Does anyone know when financial aid will be available? :

Thanks,
Selter

I called and was told it would be up online April 2nd.

Anybody hear anything yet?

A woman in the financial aid office told me the info would be up after 5 today

5 central I’m guessing? That’s too long a wait!

im praying for a good package.

i have not turned my CSS Profile in to NU yet. luckily i spoke with a Fin Aid Counselor and they said i can turn it in this week and i’ll be fine but i won’t hear for another few weeks i wish you all the best though!

Wow. Excellent aid. This is amazing.

All we get when we log in is

Information unavailable. Contact your Financial Aid Office.

Uh, oh. I hope this doesn’t mean that NU is missing some paperwork…

You can check by clicking “To Do Item History”

Thanks - I’ve clicked and checked and everything is there. That’s a relief. Guess we’ll have to wait and call on Monday.

Looks like I’m definitely not going to Northwestern.

For some reason, they think my family and I can contribute over $10,000 in addition to meeting an annual loan of $3,200 when my FAFSA efc is just above 1000 and my mother’s income is way below $40,000. Ridiculous.

Both Rice and Duke are offering near need or full need that I’m definitely looking into that, while UT is still on my radar (even though the aid isn’t that great).

Amazing i got 52000 in grants/scholarships, 2500 workstudy, and the rest left to my efc of 2300

Does anyone know what Northwestern’s tuition totals for 2010-11 are?

Thanks.

This … can’t be right. Both of my parents are laid off, and I have an older brother in college.

Award Description Category Offered Disbursed Balance
Northwestern Scholarship Grant $11,283.00
Federal Work Study Work/Study $2,200.00
Federal Perkins Loan - UG Loan $1,000.00
Fedl Sub Stafford Loan Loan $3,500.00
Academic Year Totals $17,983.00

I think I might cry? NU is my top choice and I definitely can’t afford it.
congrats to those of you who got awesome aid, though (:

WakeUp - try and appeal your FA - show them what Duke is offering. They may have misinterpreted something on the CSS.

Logleptic - What was your Fafsa EFC?

I couldn’t say … my parents insisted they take care of all the financial aid business because I was super swamped with a show I was in at the time, so I let them take care of it. I’ll have to ask them.

Estimated cost of tuition for 2010-2011
is at around 39,840
Room and board 12240

books, p. expenses, etc =56,600

kleibo, I was thinking of doing that when I saw it. Thanks! But, looking at it, Northwestern, though once my dream school, doesn’t seem like the best fit in the world and I don’t want to waste my or their time whatsoever. With the final nail in the coffin, I’m going to be sending in my response card with a decline sometime next week. Hopefully, someone who wants to go even more can get off the waitlist.
