financial aid

Hi all, I'm an international student and was accepted to Wooster a couple of weeks ago. At that time they offered me the Dean's Award of $20,500. Just this morning I received an email saying that I have been awarded an additional amount of $ 10,000. Unfortunately the total amount still far exceeds what my parents can contribute :(
I just wonder if anyone gets the same letter as I did, and if yes, then could you please tell me how much you were given? I'd really love to go to the US but in this situation maybe I'll have to find some schools in the Asia instead
Thanks in advance for your information.

Many schools will negotiate; if you got a better FA package from another college, you could say “[blank school] gave me $40,000 anually. Wooster’s my first choice but you gave me $10,000 less per annum”. I’m not sure if it would work with an international, but it’s worth a try. And if I’m correct, the total cost of attendance of Woo is ~40k to 44k. So if that doesn’t work, is there any way you could take out a loan of $10,000 per year? I know those two ideas aren’t the most reliable, but they’re the best I can do :frowning: I hope everything works out for the best!

Thank you iltli92 for replying  unfortunately they actually wrote to me “all aid eligibility is fixed” or something like that :frowning: I sent their director of int’l admissions an email but he hasn’t answered yet, probably because it’s weekend. My parents are considering taking loan b/c I really love Wooster :x

Btw I just realize that my post above sounds like I’m trying to get some private information out of people lol. I just wondered if anyone was in the same situation so that I can ask him/her for advice. Just so you know :)
