Financial Aid

I recently had the chance to learn about University of Washington and absolutely fell in love with the school, but I'm an out-of-state prospective student.

From the website, it seems like UW offers alotta scholarships to in-states...
how is it for out-of-states???

can someone tell me about their average financial package stuff
and does UW give out any merit aids?

Unfortunately for those of us that are out of state students, we don’t get crap. Most scholarships are in- state though, from what I understand, more open up once you declare a major and are eligible for departmental scholarships.
My financial aid package consisted of the Stafford Loans (subsidized as well as unsubsidized) and the Parent PLUS Loan (which depends on credit approval… and we’re STILL waiting on the application for it).

I set my heart on the UW too and thankfully, that’s where I’m going to be this fall but lemme tell you, it’s a helluva lot of money and it’d be a lot more convenient if the UW was a little bit more generous with those scholarships for the out of state students. But that’s why they let in so many of us; we have to pay so much more :(
