financial aid.

i completed everything and my checklists are all checked off except direct deposit, which i will do soon. i received an email saying

Important Message about Direct Loan Funds

As required by law, UCSD has changed to the Federal Direct Loan Program for Stafford, Parent PLUS and Grad PLUS Loans. This means that all current and new Stafford, Grad PLUS, and parent PLUS borrowers will need to sign a new Master Promissory Note for the Direct Loan program funds.

You are urged to complete the appropriate Direct Loan MPN now, so that your funds will be available at the start of the term when you need them. Refer to the Financial Aid Checklist on TritonLink to learn what other steps you must take to receive your funds on time.

-is this just a general message? or directly for me cause my checklists are all checked off... unless they are talking about not filling in the parent plus loan, which i declined.

It’s general, I talked to a lot of people on Facebook who got that and we came to that conclusion haha.

^thank you! i just checked it out!

other problem that i had was that my cal grant B changed to cal grant A and UCSD grant changed drastically. all in all i got more money but i’m worried why this happened? has anyone else experienced this?

^ That email almost made me pass out. I thought I forgot to fill out some form and they took away my cal grant and then I’ll have to go to community college. ;_;

I had my UCSD grant and Cal Grant B change into a Cal Grant A too. Not sure why either. For the older students, will our financial aid awards change much next year if we keep good grades etc?

Mine changed too, a while after I reported that I got a couple scholarships. I assume that’s why.

i didn’t even get any scholarships =( …but i got more money after it changed…

Mine changed from cal grant B to A also. I freaked out, but when I looked into it seems like exactly the same amount. i think they pick the one that’s best for each individual over 4 years, so it’s all good.
