How would you guys rank the financial aid at JHU?

Also, my family makes about 120k, about how much should I expect?

Any answers would be appreciated.

You should probably use the JHU Financial Aid Estimator to estimate how much aid you’ll get.

[JHU Possible Aid Estimator](<a href=“Student Financial Support | Johns Hopkins University”>Student Financial Support | Johns Hopkins University)

In 2008, JHU (BME admissions) was the single worst FA we received. Sadly, this was my kid’s first choice. We obviously ended up choosing the school with the best aid (merit and FA). Thus far, we have no loans, he’s been published (first on paper), and works for a ground-breaking lab so all has worked out. Consider other schools just in case JHU has the same limited resources it had in '08.

Use the estimator, we had a family friend who found it more affordable to attend Hopkins than our state flagship (!!!) so it varies family to family, case by case.

EFCs are only a baseline at best. Institutional EFCs can be different. JHU was 15K less than Duke, Penn, and 20K less than Vanderbilt. Surprisingly, Wash U was almost as low as JHU.

Go with the school that offers the best money. Watching the poor MIT MBA grad with 100K in debt finishing an internship at work, struggling to find a real job, I’d say aid is everything in this economy.

^^ Interesting - that’s good.
