Financial aide for transfering

Hello, I was wondering how does financial aide work if you’re transferring in the middle of the year? For instance, I attended UTA for the fall semester of 2018 but plan on going to UT for the upcoming spring semester. I received enough grant money to cover my tuition for UTA but what would happen to that if I went to UT?

What UT and UTA are you talking about?

You would need to apply for financial aid at UT and get an award from them.

What was your aid at UTA? Was it a Pell Grant? Direct Loan? School grants? What?

I assume the T stands for Texas. UT and UTA are separate institutions. You need to apply for financial aid at UT. If you are planning on entering UT next month you have a major problem.

Is UTA University of Texas Arlington?

Are you hoping to transfer to University of Texas Austin?

You need to submit your FAFSA to UT. If you are planning to attend in January, you may have missed a deadline.

If you received the Pell Grant for UTA, you should get the second half of it for UT. If you received a Direct Loan, you should be able to get the second half of that as well at UT.

BUT you have to apply for it by submitting your FAFSA to UT.

Any Arlington based aid will not transfer over.

If there are state grants in Texas, you might receive those as a transfer.

Why don’t you call UT…once the holidays end…and ask.

First of all, thank you for replying! I appreciate the help! And yes, UT is the University of Texas and UTA would be the University of Texas at Arlington. I’ve already submitted my fafsa to UT but I had to turn in additional documents in order to see my full aide for UT. I already turned in those documents and since it was near Christmas time, the financial aide office was closed so I couldn’t really ask them my questions. Thus,I just wanted to ask here and be informed about what could potentially happen to my grants. And yes, I received the Pell Grant and the TX public Edu. grants, and some subsidized loans but none from UTA.
