Financial Air at Tufts..

How generous is Tufts, especially in regards to ED students?

Really depends. If your family makes in the $100k-$150k range, then you'll have a bit of a struggle - that tends to the point when your family makes too much to qualify for much aid but not enough to pay the whole cost. Generally, there is less financial aid available for the oldest child (theory is to spend all resources on that kid and then get financial aid if and when the younger students go to an expensive school - those younger kids could end up at the state U or not going to school, so they aren't factored in as much).

Call up the financial aid office. They might be able to give you a very rough estimate of what you'll have to pay. If money is a big issue, then don't apply ED; you can note on your RD application that Tufts is your first choice but, for financial reasons, you need to compare offers. I promise you that most college admissions officers won't be turned off by responsibility. ;)
