Financial Award Letter

Looking at my Award letter, I noticed a “Student Contribution from Income: $2150” and a “University Work Scholarship: $2300” I assume the Work Scholarship is the scholarship granted to freshmen from the $100 million donation from an alumn and I won’t be receiving it again this year. Is that the case?

Also, I called and they told me the Student Contribution from Income of $2150 is there for all students on their award letters. If I don’t receive the University Work Scholarship again next year (sophomore year), are they assuming me to pay the “Student Contribution from Income” plus whatever I received this year ($2300) in the “University Work Scholarship” for a grand total of $2150+$2300??

the SCI (Student Contribution from Income) is set $2150 and is standard for all students

the University Work Scholarship is granted to all freshmen students who qualified for work study. ruth simmons instituted a new policy where any freshmen student who was to do work study would receive this scholarship their first year so they wouldn't have to work, and could get use to college and enjoy their first year.

people who qualify for any scholarship money from the the guy who gave the $100 million donation are known as Sidney E. Frank Scholars (he's the guy who donated it lol). it's given to students with exceptional need and is used to eliminate any loans in their financial aid package.

you're best bet is too very throughly read the financial aid page, and then call during their office hours to talk to a financial officer, who can help clarify some things for you (it's all pretty confusing!! :))

(i haven't gotten mine either, even though i've been on their asses for 2 months lol...they keep needing more paperwork that i dont find out about until i call to ask where my package is)...the first payment is due aug 1st, so its especially imp to get the info soon.
