ctime, Thanks for the response. I guess we have to wait for a couple of more weeks before calling Wash U FA office.

The FAFSA EFC is used for federal aid dollars, a university can use a different formula to calculate an EFC to use for distributing their own money. My guess is that WashU is including assets and/or income in their EFC formula that is not included in the FAFSA EFC formula. Things like home equity and 401k contributions perhaps. Does anyone have insight on WashU's formula?

Apparently my noncustodial parent did not fill out the Wash U version of the NCP application. The aid office said she could still turn it in (she did so yesterday), but I'm wondering if my chances of aid have been significantly decreased. Is there a set amount the school can give out per year, and by "finishing" my aid application so late in the game will most of the money already be distributed?

Jeap13 - I highly doubt it. ST2 has repeatedly reassured us that WUSTL does everything it can to make the school affordable for you, so I don't think they would punish you because your noncustodial parent did not send in the paperwork.

As long as you got it in as per your post - there will be negative effect. Obviously I don't know the results, but they will be the same as if the info was turned in on time.

Thank you for the help kasiiaaa and ST2! I feel so much better now.

I am not a finalist, and mine also reads, "As of 5:00 p.m., Central Time, on 03/17/2009, you do not have a WU Financial Assistance Award."
Our EFC is very high, but there are a good few extenuating circumstances, some of which we already noted to Wash U...
ST2, do you know if they posted their determined awards all at once, or if I should wait a while longer and see if it changes?

If you can't find it online, you should probably call and ask the financial aid office directly

If it is not posted online by now, I would call the financial aid office for an explanation.
