I am an international applying Yale SCEA and just when i thought everything was completed and my application was ready to be submitted I find out that I have to fill this CSS profile also. what i wanted to know is apart from filling out this profile, do we also have to send any additional documents? if yes, which are they and can they be submitted online or do they have to be post mailed? plz reply fast....

Actually you can delay sending the CSS profile. I wanted to do the CSSProfile in January when I had my tax information. I called FinAid and they said it was fin to wait. The FinAid statement they give you is only an estimate based upon your 2008 taxes. You have to give them the information again in winter/spring. If you are accepted, you just would not nkow the financial aid you will get until you do the paper work.

If you want an FA estimate should you be admitted SCEA, the office will need some FA documentation with the profile. If you have a US federal income tax statement, that will be what they need. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to contact the office to find out what else they require.

But splat11 is right, all you’ll get is an estimate which will require re-submission of the profile with supporting 2009 documentation next February or March. They will then provide you with firmer numbers by April for you to make a final decision about attendance by May 1. If you don’t want an estimate before then, you can wait.

Yale has a very handy on-line FA estimator which, in my experience, was quite accurate in projecting eventual aid.

Perhaps this will do for you until you can get a firmer estimate next spring.

See, i need significant financial aid(almost full ride). will sending the CSS in jan, in any way hurt my chances of aid?
also, because I m very late on filling this profile shud i rather send this profile in jan and not over-stress. will it in any way affect my chances of admission?
I would like to have an FA estimate if i am admitted SCEA but i think because Yale is need blind even to internationals i would trust it on giving me a generous aid even later on. wat say?

You’ll be admitted or denied or rejected regardless of when your FA documents come in. Let’s say you do get a SCEA admit but your FA stuff is incomplete. At that stage, Yale is pursuing YOU and will find a way to get you there.

Just focus on the application at this point and not stress about the financial documents. They’ll get in when they get in.
