Financial engineering-hardest major ever?

How hard is financial engineering compared to other engineering, applied math, etc. What's the average gpa like? what's the workload like?

Lots of Linear algebra and numerical analysis. id say a combo of CS and a math major, with some finance classes.

Still wouldn't be harder than Nuclear or EE.

Hardest major ever? Lol.

Chemical, Electrical, or Engineering Physics would take that title.

Physics is much harder then Engineering Physics...In real physics you have to study things we don't know if they exist.

It starts...

I say communications is the hardest

I agree but physics is not an engineering major and this is an engineering forum.

this post is really funny, and olecdude communications is certainly tougher than say, electrical engineering, and much more work too.

everybody do the bump!

I major in Mythical Creatures Studies. It's even harder than theoretical physics and pure mathematics! Come on, I study things that we KNOW do not exist.

Just because these things may not exist doesn't mean it's hard, although I agree that it's a hell of a major, though for a different reason than the one you proposed.

steevee, Yes but say LHC doesn't find Higgs-Boson....Then we would have to relearn Physics because the math doesn't work....

Sociology is pretty damn hard

Where do they offer financial engineering anyway?

Columbia offers it, but it's only a concentration within the IEOR department.

UCLA has financial engineering now...although the major isn't part of the Engineering department but of the Business school

aerospace...ftw

Depends what is considered hard. I think financial engineering might be more highly G-loaded than most majors. Other majors like Mechanical Engineering aren't necessarily hard due to the math though.
