Financial Engineering to grad school?

Hey, so my school is going to begin offering a bachelors degree in Financial Engineering this year, and I'm very interested in this program for a variety of reasons. My interest doesn't stem from a goal of actually working in financial engineering, but the programs broad curriculum in computer science, industrial engineering, math, and economics (we actually only take three classes in 'Financial Engineering' and none in Finance). My goal is to eventually earn a Phd in operations research (or a similar field).

My question is would admissions committees look down on a bachelors degree in FE for any reason? Is it advisable to enroll in this brand new program at my school when it doesn't have a track record to look at?

Look at the prerequisites for the operations research programs you are interested in and then determine if the FE degree meets them. If it does, then there is a good chance that your application will be considered seriously.
