Financial for Returning Students

Do any current NU students know when returning students get our financial aid package for this upcoming year? My family is kind of anxious to find out how much I'll get.

bump-someone must know!

I got mine a week ago...check CAESAR, should be posted there. if not, maybe you're missing some forms?

I understand they were mailed out last week and would take several weeks for all of them to be sent out.

Just checked w/office of FA and the last of returning students FA will be available on Ceaser no later than Friday.

hey thanks for your replies! hopefully I'll get mine soon (I've been checking CAESAR every day)

Returning students-what do you think of your FA package?

Mine was cut in half- soooooo my family is not too pleased

I got a bit more, but not in proportion to how much tuition was raised...

I haven't even filled out the application yet....

Slightly higher. Although, my income and parents income was consiberbly higher.

asdf11-What is your classification?

bkb19580 what do you mean by classification?

Fresh-soph etc...

My friend just got his today.

This is my opinion.
Don't bother appealing if there is no death in the family, somebody lost their job, or some other catastrophe. They won't change your award. Btw, they do incoming freshmen first, then basically randomly start working on everybody elses. Also most if not all applications are read, and approved in May. They then check most applications by hand to make sure nothing is overlooked. The ones send very late, generally in July are the ones that have been hand approved. Meaning they didn't use the numbers that the computer spit out but calculated it by hand.
Also their main method of calculation is from the previous year's award. So if you got a nice package freshman year try to keep your family status the same, because they will give the same award the next year, with some extra to compensate for the $2,000 tuition increase every year. But if you got a very small award then the next year they will try to resist increasing your award, even if your family situation changes. Your award can only go down, not up. Unless of course some catastrophe happens.

-Which is why I don't complete my app until late....
