financial jargon

I am very lost regarding financial aid; please help!

When do we accept our gift aid? and HOW?

Once we DO accept it, when do we get it? Where do they place it?

Is it mandatory to report other scholarships we’ve won?

Let me see if I can help you out on this one. I was so confused when I got all my financial aid set up. I am assuming that you already received your financial aid package for next year? I am a continuing undergrad and mine hasn't come through yet.

Regardless:

Almost everything is done through the Tritonlink website. The website is:
tritonlink.ucsd.edu
On the left click on financial aid. This website will be your main place for everything UCSD in the future.

Once you are able to view your aid online, it will allow you to accept, reject, or in the case of loans, sometimes accept a lesser amount rewarded. During the process I believe it allows you to enroll in direct deposit. It will also allow you to select a lender. Money comes from the lender and deposits toward your UCSD balance. You will receive statements showing all your deposits toward your fees. Chances are your financial aid will not cover every expense. Outstanding expenses will then be paid by you (usually through electronic check...also done on the website).

As for scholarships...I didn't receive any, but I believe you have to report them.

FYI...I don't work for UCSD financial aid....so don't take all this as concrete. This is simply what I experienced.

Hope this helps...if you have any further questions PM me and I will be happy to help :)
