theres a financial mathematics major in LSA under math department...is it a good alternative of Ross' Finance program?

Pretty sure the financial math degree is almost exclusively for people who plan on becoming an actuary.

True. It's more for the risk management/actuary types. The financial math degree is slightly different from the actuarial math degree, but they overlap. See the math website for variations. They have a slightly different focus but are nonetheless meant for highly quantitative positions. After all, it's a math degree, so you'll be working the numbers more than analyzing the market. In any case, if you do well, you can get the same jobs Ross kids get (maybe even better).

It is much more math based (obviously). You have to be very strong in math. Look at the courses and see if they appeal to you. You work more in teams in the business school.

I still think ross is a better alternative because their career center is so amazing. But definitely if you want to be an actuary go actuarial/financial math..but pretty much anything else you can do with a degree in finance at ross as well.

There are quite a few students doing a double major in business (BBA) and financial math.

does anyone have more information? Like where graduates go...if they go on to MFE programs...or straight into the workplace? If so, where do they work etc etc...I've tried looking for this information and have come up with very little.
