@EmsDad Brilliant! :)) My fallback plan is to go to medical school
^^mine is business school
@MTVT2015, have you gone to the BA schools on your list and talked to them about your dilemma? Sometimes if you ask, more money somehow comes your way. If they know you are seriously wanting to go there, but money is holding you back, a scholarship that someone else turns down could land in your back pocket. What do you have to lose if you ask?
@vocal1046 - my S is going for “underwear model” to pay the rent after college. @MTDadandProud - we too had a expenditure/debt ceiling. S is at an in-state school and will graduate debt free. The program is not one people talk about on CC, but has been around a pretty long time. He is ridiculously happy with his choice.
@mom4bwayboy My S likes to remind me he has the legs for drag should it become necessary
No joke, have you seen the boys on the Great White Way? It’s an awful lot of waxing but you do have to admire the commitment.: Last year’s Broadway Bares: Rock Hard! raised $1,386,105. To date, the 24 editions of Broadway Bares have raised more than $12.6 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

@artskids - we’ve already snagged some second hand high-heeled pumps that can take the weight of a 6’2" guy. Sometimes a man’s gotta do, what man’s gotta do. “Doctor’s husband” also has a nice ring to it.
I costumed a production of Rent last summer- I have a full compliment of high heels to fit a size 11 male foot (if anyone needs them) - and am now an expert at making male eyebrows “disappear” with a glue stick (a valuable skill to know). As for my daughter - she wants to learn to bartend- perhaps b/c she grew up watching one of my favorite late 80s movies “Cocktail”.
For what it’s worth, we know many very talented and well-informed kids for whom CMU didn’t make their list at all, and for D it was on the lower half of her list of 12 preferred schools as she was not interested in either a conservatory or a very small program. In the end, she never bothered to audition there as she was admitted ED to her top choice school. It’s one of many fine programs, but as has been said often there is NO school that tops everyone’s list, nor is there a single school that gets every casting director’s attention.
^^you’ve never lived until you run to the drug store to get your S some makeup and to the thrift store to pick him up some heels!
And pack a spare pair of pants for when he splits his mid performance
@toowonderful a glue stick?? Do tell!
I learned it from a drag queen on YouTube ( a fun sentence to type) . You warm up a glue stick (hot water) so the glue is soft, then smooth over the eyebrow- using a flat surface (I used a dip spreader knife- no “edge” but flat) Let it dry- and do it again. After several layers (and about 20 min) you have a hard, smooth surface with no hairs showing. Add a layer of heavy foundation and an eyebrow pencil to draw “female” eyebrows- and you are in business
Wow, good to know!
I am imagining the process of later removing hot glue from eyebrows. It might be easier to just pluck!
Underwear model only calls for extra pairs of socks. Much simpler.
The things a mom will do to “support” her son’s success in the career of his choice. . .
I won’t even say what my son’s job was freshman year… it did involve modeling!
