Financial Question

Does anyone know what financial obligations, aside from tuition and books, a student has to the university? I've heard there is an insurance plan- not optional.
I will be a transfer student, so no room and board. I'm just trying to get an idea of other costs I will have.
Thanks!

There is a Student Health fee that is not optional. You must also have health insurance for things not covered by the university’s health service, or purchase their insurance plan. These two things are different.

I’d assume that there are some activity fees and such; don’t remember.

Additionally, even commuters must buy the minimal meal plan.

I didn’t realize that. So students must purchase a meal plan for all 4/5 years of study?

Yes.

You’ll notice there is a “Commuter Dining” option for $500/semester. That’s the minimum plan allowed.

These are the additional fees, copied off the first statement of the year:

MANDATORY HEALTH FEE $252.00
STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE UG $129.00
TRANSPORTATION FEE $12.00
HOUSING SOCIAL FEE $7.00

Perfect. That’s what I was looking for. Thanks.
