I'm an international senior applying to college and would like to know how the financial statements work. I won't be applying for Financial Aid. Will the colleges i'm applying to come in contact with me if they'd like a financial statement from the bank or should i send them out when i send my application?

If you won’t be applying for any need-based financial aid, you will need to provide proof that you (and your parents) can cover the first year’s total costs. Many colleges require that information as part of your application, while others will not require it until after you are admitted. Either way, the information is needed for the college and you to complete a federal I-20 form that is needed to get an F-1 visa. Note that if you were applying for financial aid to colleges that provide it to internationals. the information you need provide is different because you don’t have to prove your parents can personally cover the entire bill but you still need to submit financial info which along with any aid provided must establish that the first year’s costs can be covered. Colleges provide the forms you need and they are very similar from college to college. You should not just be waiting until the college contacts you about it. Contact the college or explore its site to find out what you need to do and whether you need to do it before or after admission.
