Financil Aid affecting admission Descion

As I'm sure many other applicants wonder, will applying for financil aid affect your decsion. Is it easier to get in as a full pay?

You mean Financial Aid…sorry it is just your spelling was off.

yeah alright thats what i meant

bump 10char

During these very tough financial times, all the schools are hurting or at least feeling the effects of a down economy. Full pay at times like these definitely has it’s advantages.

yes, it is much easier to get in as a full pay…and its hard to get financial aid if you are not a “tipped” athlete (meaning one of the coaches has put your name in for admission) or if you are not a URM (Under Represented Minority)…

The way I tend to think about it is that non-FA applicants only have to be admitted once, while FA applicants have a second (or third or fourth) round to go through. Schools have to both want and be able to afford the FA candidate.

Maybe non-FA applicants have more than one round to go through at the top schools too. But surely not as many as the FA applicants.

This is not (theoretically) true at Andover and other need blind schools. St Andrews - DE maybe?

The soccer coach knows me (I met her when I was at my interview) I also have a lot of connections. I can really only afford a little less than half though. How good do you think my chances are.

It probably does have some effect, even in need blind schools
