Financing law school as an international student

Hi guys, quick question. I am an international student from Jamaica currently studying at a college in the U.S. I hope to attend law school here as well and I was wondering if there are any others here who could explain how they financed their law school education without the federal loans offered to U.S. students. Are private loans that much more expensive, and how much do these loans cover? Are there any scholarships you guys would recommend I look into? Thanks in advance for your help!

You might consider taking a student loan from Jamaica. If you have high LSAT and GPA you may get scholarship from some law schools, but not HYS.

The private loan which offered by law school isn’t that bad. You should talk to them about it.

There is a previous thread about this topic. Do a search for it. Bottom line: borrow the money from a bank in Jamaica or get a US citizen or green card holder to co-sign your loan from an American bank.

when everyone say a creditworthy co signer, how rich do they have to be? i mean do they need to earn 100k a year? what does it all mean?

I’ve no idea about bank’s requirements for the co-signers. Maybe like someone with good credit report? Why not give 'em a call to find out?
