Financing Your MFA

I know CC isn't a hotbed for visual arts MFA conversation, but I'm just curious if anyone here is thinking of doing an MFA program and knows how they'll finance it? Having just graduated into a (still) horrible recession with some student loan debt and no job yet, I don't have high hopes for saving much for future schooling; plus, now government-subsidized loans for graduate school have been cut...

Anyone have any idea how to do this without rich parents or much in the bank? I am very serious about pursuing an MFA sometime within the next 5 years, but I'm loathe to take out more loans, especially if private!

There are different ways you can obtain funds for grad school. Get a job for 2 or 3 years to save enough money, and some companies may even help pay for your education. Look for outside scholarships. Be prepare to write tons of essays. Search for other ideas on the web. Here’s one. Best of luck.
