Find your own roommate

<p>From what I've heard, NYU only has a 3 question survey to offer by way of a Roommate Finder. On the MySpace Class of 2010 group, there's a thread for girls and boys where they can describe themselves and their habits and consider eachother as roommate material. While I might still let NYU find my roommate, I'd like to see if there's anyone that stands out here. Make sure you include:</p>

<p>*Your dorm preference
*Your school
*Your gender
*Your nocturnal habits
*Miscellaneous info on you and your habits</p>

<p>I was thinking I'd leave the roommate thing up to Fate (or NYU) but uh.....3 questions? :)</p>

<p>I'm aiming for a low cost triple in Hayden or a regular room in Rubin...you know, save a few grand.</p>

<p>I'm in GSP, deferred from CAS. Majoring in I'm-not-too-sure but thinking about a linguistics-international relations hybrid. As long as you don't think me a "generally stupid whatever", I've got no problemo with you.
I plan on working really hard (I'm going to get the absolute max out of my 45K a year education), but playing even more.
I'm hoping for someone who'll be extremely interested in the club scene....and all that entails :) hehe.
I drink mucho/not mucho, depending on the situation, but I'll shoot myself if I'm immature about it.
I don't smoke ciggies or pot, but I don't mind the former (my mum's a smoker) and I plan on trying the latter.
I wear glasses.
I LOVE to try new things, have fun, read, watch movies, talk about everything and nothing, listen to music, dance, wander, shop, laugh.
I go to bed pretty late, 2 AM when I've got nothing to wake up for (this time is usually spent talking online or reading).
Religion isn't my thing, and....well...while I don't mind being shacked up with a religious person, I don't want to offend them.
Sometimes my hair is red, sometimes it's blonde. I can't seem to make up my mind...
I'm a really loyal and honest friend--I've got references (:) haha) if you want them.
I've got an extremely open mind...
I love people--I'm extremely outgoing. No matter who you are, we'll find some way to bond.
I'm big on experiencing foreign cultures
I love an adventure
My mum's French Canadian, so I speak french fluently....it could be good practice for you:)
I get bad period cramps.
I'll be working during college.
I plan on having a pretty clean dorm room...don't want any rats.:_ I definitely want to keep the bathroom CLEANnnnnnnnnn. I almost have a phobia of hair....</p>

<p>I would prefer someone I could get lost in the city with. I've only been a dozen times in my life, but everytime...there was chemistry. I'd definitely prefer someone who has no clue what the difference is between downtown and upper east side :) haha, but if you've been thinking we're a perfect match up till this point and you know the city like the back of your hand (i don't quite get that expression because I definitely do not know what my hand looks like), this preference of mine isn't crucial.</p>

<p>AIM: jaimelajolie</p>

<p>I tried to cover a lot of bases here :D
Excellent thread idea</p>

<p>Dorm preference: University Hall
School: Gallatin
Gender: Male
Hailing from: New York
Nocturnal habits: I keep really odd hours (ie: sleep late, go to sleep late; illogical? yes)
Studying: Of course, but I won't lock myself away in my dorm 24/7
Music: Everything... post-rock, trip-hop, alternative rock, classic rock. Air! Bowie!
I currently have bookmarks in: A Prayer for Owen Meany (John Irving); Thus Spoke Zarathustra (Nietzsche); Brave New World (Aldous Huxley); Ham on Rye (Bukowski)
Favorite films as of late: The Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenenbaums (notice a pattern?), Velvet Goldmine
Ideal room-mate: Intellectual, can be slightly dorky, non-hipster, non-drug addict, and someone I won't have to pick up off of the floor every night
Religion: is always a good topic for debate.
Random traits: open-minded, reserved, think waaay too much
Cuisine: Anything
New York City: .. has been my playground for the past gew years.
Neat freak?: Depends on my mood, though clean bathrooms are a must</p>

<p>Hm.. three questions isn't very good... Well, even if I don't find a roommate here, I guess I'll get to know some people better.</p>

<p>I'm looking at Goddard- the "All the World's a Stage" exploration. If I don't end up doing that then I'll be trying to get into Hayden.
I got an invitation to the CAS reception, so I'm assuming that I got in.
I'm female... so, not much else to really say there. :)
During the school week I don't normally get to bed until about midnight, mainly because I am finishing homework. On the weekend I'll occasionally stay up until around two or three.
I don't smoke and no one in my family smokes. I've got a slight(very slight) allergy to nicoteen, so I'm not planning on smoking anytime soon. I'm not really into drugs or drinking, in general. I won't judge anyone if they want to drink or anything, but I would prefer it if my future roommate didn't get drunk every night.
I love reading, shopping, watching movies, talking... typical things.
I attend a Methodist church, although I don't really like it. There's nothing really wrong with the religion, I just don't like the people at my church.
I listen to a wide range of music. I mostly listen to Broadway soundtracks, but I'll listen to pretty much anything. I don't really listen too much to country, hip-hop, or rap, though.
I've got an open mind. People who judges others based on race, religion, or sexuality are just dumb.
I've been playing the clarinet for almost ten years. No, I will not practice it in the dorm room. :)
I read a lot. Recently, I read Memiors of a Geisha, Everything is Illuminated, The Lovely Bones, Without You, American Gods, Last Day of A Condemned Man... et c.
I enjoy a wide assortment of films- classic Hitchcock films, Vincent Price films, musicals (Chicago, Moulin Rouge, RENT, The Producers, Singin In The Rain...et c.), Lord of the Rings, SLC Punk!... and the list goes on.</p>

<p>I've only been to NYC six times, all within the past three years. I've spent most of that time around Times Square. I did sort of "explore" Greewich Village with my dad a bit, but we didn't really look at a lot.</p>

<p>AIM: Bway Band Nerd</p>

<p>haha welll.....jaimelajolie, if youre just copying and pasting yours from myspace, i believe i shall do the same thing =)</p>

<p>okay well my name is rachel, i'm 18, i'm from texas (and ready as hell to get out of it!), i'll be majoring in film/television =) with a possible second major in journalism? we'll see. umm i really don't want a roommate who does drugs/smokes (family stuff). drinking's alright as long as it's not totally excessive. as of right now, i'm not a drinker myself but i mean, its college, ill be taking everything as it comes! if you're one of those people that likes to go to shows (as in bands) every night, we won't get along to well. that's the ONLY thing people around here do, no matter WHO'S playing, and i'm just kind of tired of it (but i'm totally up for going if it's someone worth seeing!)</p>

<p>let's see....ill listen to just about any kind of music (not too fond of country or rap, though), i love movies and tv (hence the major =P) and if you would watch endless reruns of buffy, angel, firefly, and charmed with me then i would love you to death. if not, i'll live. i've never even BEEN to new york though and i would love to have someone to explore the city with. if you want to go do something, and don't want to go by yourself, i'll totally go with. pretty much anywhere. im dying to get to live in the city and go to museums and plays and EVERYTHING ny has to offer. but if you don't want me to go, i'm down with that too. and i wont drag you along if im doing something you dont want to do.</p>

<p>as far as living situations go...umm im a christian, but if you arent im not one of those in-your-face-raining-down-hell-fire-and-brimstone types so as long as you arent either, we should be fine. im a joker, and im pretty damn sarcastic, but i think it's safe to say i'm not annoying (for the most part :-D). i won't blare music while you're trying to study, or have hoards of people over when you have a test the next day, but i don't care if you do those things. and if you need homework help, hey, i'm not too good at lots of things but im still more than willing to try to help =) same with anything else you may need help with. i love helping. haha weird, but true! mmk! and i really wanna try to keep my dorm clean at college (very unlike how my room is at home) so if you're a total slob, we might have some problems. but im not anal like monica on friends so we'll probably be cool.</p>

<p>sooo i think that about sums it up? at least that i can think of right now (haha and yes i know it was long) if you're interested, or if you just wanna chat about our lovely nyu, hit me up on AIM... carouselsend</p>

<p>ooh, i forgot my aim name: personalcoma.

<p>Bulletproof I don’t know if this is an established format or you just made it up but I am stealing it anyway. We can argue copyrights at a later date if necessary.</p>

<p>Dorm preference: UHall possibly? Still debating trad. Vs. apartment in my head
School: CAS
Gender: my genitalia are on the inside thank you
Hailing from: Long Island
Nocturnal habits: Depends, weekdays aren’t too late. Weekends are a grab bag of different times.
Studying: I will do my fair share of studying I suppose.
Music: I do appreciate most genres, but am in an indie/folk phase at the moment. I do like to have dance parties when the mood strikes though 
I currently have bookmarks in: Narcissus and Goldmund-Hermann Hesse and The Sound and the Fury-William Faulkner. I am also constantly re-reading palahniuk
Favorite films as of late: THE LIFE AQUATIC, garden state, boondock saints, and anything tarantino
Ideal room-mate: Intellectual by day, partier by night. I am not talking about hauling your drunk ass around nyc, but someone that will look forward to going out at night with me.
Religion: Personally I am an atheist, but as long as you don’t leave bibles under my pillow I tend to be accepting
Random traits: I know every word to we didn’t start the fire, I really like having pirate-themed parties
Cuisine: always up for something new
New York City: lived in the shadow of nyc all my life (long island) and I love it, can’t wait to go out and not have to worry about missing the train and waiting 2/3 hours in Penn station at 3 in the morning
Neat freak?: Not at all. I am by no means a slob, but if my number 2 pencils are out of place, I really am not going to cry about it.</p>

<p>bulletproof- Paluhniuk now cough it up :)</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>Right as I was reading your post, I KNEW you were gonna get it. And lo and behold, when I refreshed I saw that. Kudos, and enjoy your e-dollars:</p>

<p><a href="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c14/rmphotos/musicsavescheck.jpg%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c14/rmphotos/musicsavescheck.jpg&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>hahaha "for obsessive literary knowledge"</p>

<p>YES now i can e-buy NYU, and hold my own application process. who's feeling lucky??</p>

<p>damn. no one wants to do the low cost triple in hayden.</p>

<p>Music Saves: what's your name by the way? myspace says Kate? having an apartment style would be neat-o, I'm sure--but you have the rest of your life to live in an apartment. I hear that UHall is cold: neighbors don't know eachother (haha, but you could do that thing that Kramer does on Seinfeld with the pictures of all the inhabitants) and even if they do, they don't interact with eachother. When I think of UHall, I see an aesthetically pleasing place with no soul or character....Perfection with a catch. hm...</p>

<p>yup i'm kate :) you are definitely right about the "rest of your life" to live in an apartment thing. and i am definitely not looking for a "cold" atmosphere. if anything, i want to burn baby burn.</p>

<p>....disco infernooooooooo!</p>

<p>hahahahaha!!</p>

<p>i can sense a BFF group forming already.</p>

<p>I really hope Hayden is going to stay the party dorm...... </p>

<p>hey man! whatever! I'll make it into one.....</p>

<p>so, uh.....about those low cost triples, everybody? I hear they're really roomy--sometimes only TWO people are assigned to a TRIPLE! .................................is my rhetoric working much?</p>

<p>ive actually heard quite the opposite about u-hall. i heard 3rd north is the one thats less friendly, but u-hall residents are more social. really though i guess it all just comes down to your experience is what you make of it huh?</p>

<p>hmmm. interesting. :) honestly? i haven't really looked into 3rd north. i don't think i like the #3..... but some numbers, like 6 and 7, make me feel happy and uplifted. odd.</p>

<p>i love how i will stress about housing for hours i am sure and then probably get NONE of my choices anyway</p>

<p>lol this is like a repeat of what we (ED kids) did in December :)</p>
