Finding a NMF roommate: is it possible?

That does have an earthy ring. I like it! (Darn, you beat me to it, RobD.)

Thanks for the kind words on the previous page, RobD and aeromom. But Lord save you if you ever use me as an attorney. ;)

My husband’s company (like many others) never allows more than a certain # of people to fly on the same airplane. Not because of a disaster…but because the sheer magnitude of the brain trust disrupts the plane’s instrumentation. Or so he tells me…

OK, so I just want to say one thing. I have met a few NMF students that I would not want my kid to room with. Not at UA, necessarily, but in general. And for a variety of reasons.

There are many things that make students gel. It is very student specific. I think my son would agree with Tommy- the online roommate thing was not extremely helpful to him.

Aeromom-or worried about a mutiny?

Great points, Vlines. I think the roommate finder is a start, but it could be extremely helpful with an overhaul and combined with a FB application.

VLines: Yeah, a MOOOtiny. I think I have a great research topic for some kid: study how the prolific emergence of internet posting sites correlates with herd mentality.

So you’re saying one floor isn’t good enough and you now want your own NMF’er dorm?

Me trash talk? Never

^^^I have to stop drinking coffee while I read your posts, my computer can’t stand it :)

One man’s trash is another man’s gospel. ;)

RTR

Casino: you slay me  while robot is worried about her computer after a spit take, the lady parked next to me is wondering why the nut in the next car is laughing all by herself.

Roll tide y’all!

Wait…RobD is a HER?

Splendid idea, casino.

Remind me not to test drive Alabama Slammers while reading malanai’s posts - very messy clean-up. (Who says the grad party is only for graduates?). My NMF’er would approve, malanai.

Uh-oh I guess I did something bad. The link in my last post was deleted:

It was just a link to a picture of Neuschwanstein Castle, following a suggestion that the new NMF’er dorm could be designed along those lines. Y’all can Google it yourselves (authoritatively, of course). :)

After years on CC, for some reason this is the week that at least 3 people have said variations of “you’re a girl?!”

It’s true, I am a mom person ;)

This is going to be obscure for most on here and everyone is going to think I should seek professional help. But every time I see your name I start hearing Paul Revere by the Beastie Boys in my head. I just substitute “Rob” for “Mike” and “mom2ck” for “M.C.A”.

Mom2ck. said, “Yippe Yo, you know this kid?”
I said, “I didn’t.”, but I know she did
The kid said, “Get ready cause this ain’t funny
My name’s Rob D. and I’m about to get money.”
Pulled out the jammy, aimed it at the sky
She yelled, “Stick 'em up!”, and let two fly
Hands went up and people hit the floor
She wasted two kids that ran for the door
“I’m Rob D. and I get respect
Your cash and your jewelry is what I expect”
Mom2CK. was with it and she’s my ace
So I grabbed the piano player and I punched him in the face
The piano player’s out, the music stopped
His boy had beef, and he got dropped
Rob D. grabbed the money, Mom2ck. snatched the gold
I grabbed two girlies and a beer that’s cold.

RIP Mike D

Awesome post Casino!

I am so strangely pleased to to know that when you see my name you think of the Beastie Boys…I’ve got a great story about a 3 year old D1 & I rocking out to “Fight for your right (to party)” I’ll have to tell it to you when we meet on the quad one day ;)

That was pretty good, Casino. BTW, I know a good therapist in Ocean City.

In terms of UA forum arguments, this one was very tame. Still, I’m glad to see that everyone has said their piece and that the OP received many helpful responses.

In terms of quiet places to study on campus, it really depends on what a person wants. I tend to consider walking around Lake Palmer and seeing the ducks to be relaxing. The bottom floor of Nott Hall is open 24/7 for honors students (scan your Action Card) except on gamedays. Other students might prefer using the study rooms, lounges, kitchens (students are rarely cooking at 2am), or even the Post Office (24/7 access). If ones like studying in their car, that is also an option. The Waffle House on the Strip isn’t very quiet, but many students will study there. If they move off-campus, the Starbucks in Midtown Village is open until 10 or 11pm on weeknights and is a comfortable place to study.
