Your regional rep WILL pass through your area usually to attend the fall and spring cattle call college fairs along with visiting target HSs. My kid emailed with his rep and asked quite a number of legitimate questions (as opposed to annoying just trying to grab your attention questions). Both kids did college fair surgical stripe operations where we spent > 30 minutes total just going to look the regional rep in the eye, shake his hand and say something like, “hi, my name is X, we have been in communication via email.” They also had a prepared question or two knowing that the rep would ask them if they had one.
Of course not all schools care but if you have your eye on one that does, a bit of face time can’t hurt and might help. Certainly for a smaller school they are the one who will give you app the first read and recommendation along with suggesting you for the scholarship pile of they aren’t automatic.
