Finding a Safety School

My parents would prefer that either I get into a prestigious university at home or abroad or I stay in the NYC/Boston/DC area (and possibly California)

I think your priority is getting a read from your parents on how much they can afford to pay. Your stellar stats will get you in a number of places but won’t necessarily mean you get money.

I’m also an accelerated student – I’ll be a sixteen-year-old senior until March – who lives in the Northeast. My real safety was SUNY Binghamton, and I got into the Scholars Program there with admission around mid-November. I’d also check out Canadian schools, since you’re already willing to go to Europe, because they operate on stats-only admission (merit being a different story). I know McGill is great for linguistics, plus you would be virtually guaranteed a spot with a 4.0 UW and 1550. One of the only things I’m struggling with for Canada, though, is the fact that I would be under 18 when the drinking age is 18. University of Waterloo is supposed to be great for CS, but I don’t know much about admission there.

GWU, UMd,

In Ontario the drinking age is 19.

With those interest I’m surprised Uchicago isn’t on your short list, not that it’s a safety school.

So don’t drink while you are under 18 or 19 (depending on the province) in Canada.
