Finding an internship with a low gpa?

Is it possible to find an internship with a 2.46 overall gpa? I have taken only 2 courses for my major so far since I'm going into my junior year, and will retake 1 for a better grade. The rest were all general ed. courses and my science classes killed me. I am majoring in economics and like most schools, economics is not in the school of business; it is in the school of social sciences and interdisciplinary studies. If I can show gpa improvement and do well in interviews, would I still have a shot? I've seen sample resumes and cover letters and most have overall gpa listed at 3.4 or something around there, way above mine. I also have ONE good reason for it being low, I started college after a brain operation and I only have so much capacity for stuff like science and other courses I'm not interested in that I had to take. I have done very good in classes that I do have interest in, but those circumstances left me almost screwed I think when I read sample resumes and cover letters.

don’t put your gpa on your resume… see what happens. I’ve gotten internships without my gpa on my resume.

I don’t think GPA is importnant for internships, maybe because (at least at my school) if you fail a class, you can retake it, and yout passing grade will replace your failing grade. Also, iff you transfer, your gpa starts over. The internships I saw advertized online required a 2.0 …
