Vassar...
A lot of freshmen take the year long intro to art history...and we have an amazing art museum on campus.

Williams should be top of your list if you're interested in art history, no question.

manchester, many universities offer good to excellent art history programs: Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, NYU and UMichigan come to mind, but there are quite a few others.

Among LACs, Williams is OUTSTANDING, I think even better than the top ivy programs. Others that are strong are Skidmore, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Kenyon, Vassar and (if female) Smith and Bryn Mawr.

conn college has a good program, and you can also get a certificate in museum studies if that is your thing as well.

thank you!

Tufts (program with MFA)

I recently visited John Hopkins. It seemed like a great school but I don't have a chance of being accepted. I also visited Goucher which looked very nice but I don't know how their Art Hist program is.

Unfortunately my parents won't let me leave the east coast so that eliminates any west coast colleges. I also don't plan on attending any women's colleges (I am a girl) but thank you for listing them momrath!

Non-Ivy league art history: Williams. Top-notch, and with outstanding art museums too.

If the OP would have a hard time getting into JHU, Williams would definitely be a reach.

Boston U would be an obvious choice. Its art and archaeology program is very good, and you can't top the Museum of Fine Arts, as jrpar mentioned.

Williams is tops.

All the current and former women's colleges are very fine. Vassar's Pres. is the art historian Francis Fergurson. Outside of Williams, Smith probably has the best teaching museum, and largest faculty. Oberlin is also supposed to be very good.

If you are thinking of it as a future professional pursuit involving graduate study, be sure it's a school where you'd feel comfortable doing European languages.
