Finding Friends in a New Area

I just moved to the far western suburbs of Chicago for a summer internship and I'm having a hard time finding lots of college-aged people to hang out with. I REALLY don't want to waist most of my summer weekends sitting in my apartment because I don't have people to go see the sights with. I've been looking at the night clubs but it's very tough when your not quite 21 and the under-aged places are sadfully filled with ecstasy seeking teeny-boppers. Other activities I can think of are no fun by yourself. Any suggestions of places to go and things to do that allow a single person to easily meet other college-aged people?

Thanks so much!

Don't trust anybody. Your best bet is to live in isolation. I'm not joking, either.

People only get you in trouble and make things complicated. Concentrate on school and remember what matters most - your future.

deluxehardballer, you seem unhappy. i'm sorry if you've had bad experiences with people.
brendank- you might want to check and see if there's a facebook group that could help you...i usually don't think meeting people online is a good idea but in this case maybe it would help

I'm a master of doing things alone- there's so much fun awaiting you on your computer.

4chan.org- the people here can be a little mean, but I have had some of my best laughs here

ytmnd.com- similar to 1, but users create mini sites with a looping sound. Some productions turn out absolutely hillarious!

Free games-

Retail Games Gone Free:Savage, Ground Control, Tribes 1, A lot more can't remember

Good Free Retail Quality Games: America's Army, CellFactor Revolution

But if you must be a dirty conformist, a good place to meet friends is at the park or something where a bunch of college kids usually like to play bbal or the like.

hey Brendank I can relate. I am doing an internship in NYC for the summer, expect I am living in a dorm with other students who are doing internships as well. The thing is that everyone is so independent, they do their work from 9-5 and then no one wants to hang out or anything afterwards. It is very different from my college dorm, where everyone was always in the halls hanging out.
