One of the reasons I look forward to getting married is(besides finding the perfect guy) :

To have a completely pimped out wedding…that’ll last for a good 2-3 days. We arabs know how to paaarty!!! hahahaha

Both my bro’s met their wives before college: Bro #1 – 9th grade, Bro #2 7th grade (future wife was in 8th grade … he needed an “older woman” who’d be able to drive more quickly <g>). Bro #1 and his wife were married 18 years before he was killed in a car accident (4 children), Bro #2 is still married to his wife (going on 23 years with 2 kids). Cautioned my own kids about making sure the person they’re dating has the values they desire as you never know if that’ll be the one you fall in love with … and there’s no betting on changing anyone later … LOL. </g>

^ True dat!!! hahaha

BUandBC82 - that is such a cute story! i am so happy for you guys!

my cousin met his future wife in his freshman year at his university. they just got married last year!

ugh. my dad wants me engaged before my soph year… I shouldn’t have laughed at him, he wasn’t joking. I don’t commit to relationships- hate commitment, and marriage is sort of the pinnacle of commitment. well, I don’t listen to most of what he says anyway, I’m not going to start now! :)

Engaged before soph year…what is this, 1880?

No, but you’re close. I’m muslim, so on the islamic calender it’s actually the 1430s… lol

Meh. 450 years is a rounding error lol

Yeah. I don’t do commitments either. Especially not lifetime commitments.

People! Where are your senses of fun? What are [collective] you going to do when you don’t find the perfect man/woman by the allotted deadline, settle for the next best thing?

My sense of fun went to hell with the subprime fairytale money. Sold my soul to Skadden Arps when I decided to go to law school.

To the people who say that college romances are doomed to fail:

BULL ****. My parents got married when my dad graduated and when my mom was in her senior year. They have been married for almost 27 years. My mother, however, always told me that she wished she hadn’t gotten married young. I have heard of some regrets, but only from her side.

Personally, I think that people should WAIT until after they finish their schooling (whether it be highschool, college, etc) and have a steady job/household before marriage and children.

My bf did ask me when I would be willing to get married. I said not before 25/graduation. Anything before 25 is too young.

Half of all marriages are doomed to fail if the statistics are correct.

Oh FFS, would you STOP being so negative!

I’m not being negative, I’m stating a fact.

Actually, he is correct. 1/2 of marriages in the U.S. end up as divorces. That’s pretty sad.
