So lets say you have a math teacher that assigns problem sets once a week (Hard problems) and the examples and problems he uses in class don't exactly mirror the homework problems.

So the teacher gets these problems somewhere (He obviously doesn't make them up), yet he changes the variables.

You find the problems online, that show the worked out solutions (Not just the answers) for those variables, and once you've understood it, you figure it using the variables from your HW. would you call that cheating, or say thats its wrong to do that? My teacher got extremely mad today when he saw the website, we had free time today.

Ooh that is a tough subject. I think if it’s the kind of homework that isn’t checked in class and is just for your personal understanding (we get that sort of stuff in math a lot), then that should be ok, because the point is you need to understand it. I think if it is checked, you probably shouldn’t be getting the answers AND the work. It would be better to see just the answer, then work your way towards it. If you really don’t understand, then stay after with the teacher for extra help?

That’s just my opinion though. If a teacher says they don’t want you doing that, then you probably shouldn’t. It’s like, some teachers say you can use sparknotes, so go for it, but if a teacher says no, don’t.

I don’t think it’s cheating because it’s not like a test…I mean you said you “figure it…” so you’re just using that site to guide you. Whatever. What can he do about it?

Nah, I don’t think it’s a problem. My teacher told us to use hotmath.com which goes through each problem stepbystep so that we can use it as a reference.

If you try to work out the problems on your own and then just use the site to do the one’s you absolutely couldn’t get, then I think it’s fine. If you’re just going to the site whenever you have hw and just copy it without doing anything, then that’s where it becomes cheating.

lol ok neways…
i think u should only use that site to check the answers AFTER u have attempted to try out the problems. it would look suspicious anyways if u used the site and ur grades were low
