I know that this year it has been difficult to find internships for many college students because of the harsh economic climate. However, I was wondering, in a general year is it easy for a freshman to find an internship somewhere? If not, when do people usually get them? Also, are certain departments stronger with job recruitment than others?

It depends what type of internship you’re applying for.

“When do people usually get them?”
Summer between Junior and Senior year for the really good ones. A lot of the ones I wanted to apply to weren’t open to me because I wasn’t a rising Senior.

However, there are plenty of internships that exist for rising sophomores, but you have to look for them.
