Finding new ec's/hooks as a junior/senior

So junior year is winding down, and I've realized that my extracurriculars are not exactly stellar. Basically, I've got a couple of clubs, a music group, and a bunch of community service, but certainly nothing that will stand out to top colleges. And except for belonging to mu alpha theta, I've got nothing which shows that I'd like to be a statistics/econ person. I understand that it's pretty late in the game and a lot of opportunities have passed, but is there anything I can do this summer/senior fall to up my Ec's even a little bit? What do colleges think about joining a club senior year? I am doing a short math program this summer and was considering doing something with my programming knowledge (design data-centered website or app maybe) - any other at-home projects I could take up to demonstrate my mathishness?

Two things. 1. You will not be able to gain any hooks over the summer. Hooks are URM, legacy, first-gen to college, recruited athlete, and developmental admit.

Joining a club at the senior year would be worthless, if not hurtful. Colleges don’t care about how many clubs you join, and some might take points away for joining every club your school offers. Colleges do, however, care about the quality of your involvement in each club. It’s better to be passionately involved in 2 clubs then simply a member who attends meetings in 7 clubs. The best thing you could do is try to get a leadership position in your clubs at the start of senior year.

I’m not sure about the mathishness though, someone else can answer that part of your question.

Thanks. I was worried that joining in senior year would look bad… i guess Ill stick to the clubs I’m already in and try to find contests/projects to work on.
