Finding out the REAL ED Notification Date

OK all of you Princetonwannabes (apologies to the real PW). You’re all brilliant you should be able to come up with a plan to find out the real date the notifications will be mailed out. You can’t rely on dates from previous years, because there have been a lot of changes in the Princeton admissions office in the last year.

I've been through this with my older son and this is how it works: The schools say "mid December” because the truth is they don't know for sure when they will have all of the decisions ready to mail out. They probably have a target date, but they're not telling anyone because they are not sure if they can meet it. Once they are sure of a date, they will start telling you the real date when you call. They may not tell you the real date until the real date comes, but until then you will get the noncommittal: “mid December”.

So you guys need to figure out a plan. That is, someone calling the admissions office every day and giving us the update.

...or every twelve minutes, whichever is sooner

I dunno..I think I can wait. I have, afterall, waited for several months already....I think I'll leave it to those who know the adcoms on a personal basis. cough, PW

Who wants to volunteer to be the annoying kid who sacrifices his application to call Princeton all the time haha?

j/k

Either way, i don't think we can change it...even if it is late.

Oh how i wish we could find out online

It doesn't have to be the same kid, you can take turns.

i called to check if my app file is complete, and also asked about what i should do about finding out the decision (being an unlucky intl and all). She said that the day they'll mail the responses (which she estimated will be 10 or 11) , they will also put a message on their site... so it seems useless to call every 5 minutes... just a thought, don't let me stop you though :D

oh and she said that only after 2-3 days will they tell us the decisions by phone... now that's very nasty...

i spoke to my adcom and she said, "we have a date in mind"

which i took to mean "december 10"

You know YOUR adcom? The one who will be reading your application?

i know a contact person too.. i doubt she is going to read the application, think she is just answering the calls, handling nervous ppl like ourselves...

but ilcapo might know more... tell us! :D

I probably know mine.... I've exchanged emails/faxes with her..

I think ilcapo means his regional rep, which is the first reader.

oh that makes sens: when i called, the lady asked me where i'm from; i said "Romania", she said "where?", i said "Romania", and then she said "wait a minute"; and then the other lady answered. so the second lady's probably in charge of internationals... neat...

There are many 'second ladies' I guess, for different parts of the world. Coz my rep remembers me by name...

Yeah? Tell me more about it!!

mercurysquad: myyyy second lady is way better than yooour second lady!:p :D

no really i think she's the same, or maybe not... i know her name, it's written on the 2nd notification letter (which, btw arrived the day after i called...) ... her initials are KV... i feel like i shoudn't post her name, don't know why tho... and she remembered my first name toooo (well, after i spelled my last one... hmmmm... maybe... no!:D)

Damnnn

Its Her :(

KLV. Sure does her job beautifully.

She remembered your names? That means she'd remember mine if I called? Would she? Would she???

I should call

You've called before? If you did, she might.

No I haven't :(
