I plan on doing premed or finance in college and I am looking for safety schools. I will be applying to mainly Ivy Leagues in terms of target and reach schools. So far, I have BU down and also Holy Cross. Any suggestions?

Hard to give great ideas until we know your stats and what you are looking for in a college. You need to find schools that are affordable and that you would be happy to attend. Lots of people apply to UMichigan as an Ivy safety since you can apply early and know by December if you get in. Some other ideas offhand are…WashU, Vandy, Emory, BC, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, Carnegie Mellon but these are not really safetys for anyone so you may want to also put in some schools like Tulane (has non binding EA), URochester, Villanova, Fordham, UWisconsin where you might be well above the stats.

I’d get my hands on a college guide book or two (Princeton Review, Fiske) and look for some schools that interest you where you fall well above the average stats. If any schools have rolling admissions or non-binding EA that is a plus for a safety.

What can your family afford? Affordability is part of determining a safety.

A safety is affordable to your family without any financial aid other than federally determined aid (FAFSA) and/or guaranteed state aid and/or aid guaranteed by the college/university itself because of your grades/exam score/some special talent or ability.

A safety is a place where you are absolutely flat-out guaranteed admission because of your grades/exam score/some special talent or ability. Many places do publish that kind of information right on their websites.

A safety is a place that you would be happy to attend if you aren’t admitted anywhere else that you can afford.

Talk with your parents about the money. When you know what your limits are, you will know how deep and how far you will have to dig to come up with a safety.

BU and Holy Cross might be safeties if you know FOR SURE that you have ALL COSTS covered and you’re certain to be admitted. Are you sure that you have all costs covered? Are you sure that you’d be admitted?

I probably wont get any FAFSA and I think costs are pretty much covered

The only money I would get would probably be from my grades/scores

If you have a realistic chance at Ivy League schools, then Florida A&M should be a safety with an automatic full ride scholarship if you are a Florida resident: [Scholarships - Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University 2013](<a href=“Page Not Found”>Page Not Found)

Other than that and other http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-18.html#post15895768 , it will likely depend on how much your parents are willing to contribute. Have you discussed that with them?
