Any ideas on how to pick the perfect common app main essay topic? I'm stuck.

I’m having the same problem. I’ve read you should sit and write a paragraph about something. Anything. Then do it again for something else. Repeat a couple times and see if you have anything you would like to go into depth about. It might not work… But its a start, right? Trial and error…

I can’t get started either

Dang lol, I guess I’m not the only one after all. I just want to pick the topic that I would pick if given a million years to contemplate. I don’t think any that I find fit that description.

How do you want to pitch yourself to the school? Why should they want you? Write about something that shows them this aspect of you. (don’t tell them, show them).

Start by making a list of your strengths, with examples
Add a list of what you’re working on to improve.

The same list can be given to any teacher who you’ve asked for a recommendation. That way, the teacher’s letter can back-up what you are presenting to the school.

As you prepare this list, you’ll start to see a trend… a common theme or thread. That is what you want to pitch to the school.
