Finding time to study

Between second semester research projects, hours of math, and the actual AP homework increasing so as to fit in all the material, I can't find any time to study! People on here are saying, "Oh, I'm just studying about an hour a day, and I should be done by the time the test rolls around." This is not applicable for me, for if I started studying an hour a day after I finished my regular homework, it'd be past 1 AM (and I have zero period each day).

How do I fit in study for two APs I want to get 5s on?

p.s. weekends are slightly better, but I'm still loaded with homework

I know how you feel… I’m trying to balance a 4.0 in high school, 3 ap tests to get 5’s on (2 of them self-study), an online math class (precalc) and pretty soon, ACT prep. You just have to find time to fit everything in. I know it sounds general, but I don’t know any other way to do it all. Just think of the people who have 9 AP tests to take.

Can you get a five on the Chemistry exam if you just study for one block of three hours?

I totally understand you.

I’m in a very similar situation, 2 AP classes and I had a massive research project (which took away a lot of time = ~4 hours after school every day for the last 4 months + grueling 8 hour weekends.) Thankfully, I don’t have to go anymore till a while, but unfortunately, that didn’t make too much time for studying.

The real problem is that I get so much work from my non-AP classes. Most of my time goes into studying for pointless yet difficult pop quizzes (which end up being pop essays and several pages long). So, I’m pretty much pouring in several hours on a daily basis just studying for those and staying late till ungodly hours. Now that the quarter is coming to end, next week is gonna be hectic - I’m worried already.

Sometimes, I wish my teachers (except for AP ones) would just ease up a little, especially this time of the year, but most of them realize that they need to finish to curriculum by June, so they just keep piling more work.

I don’t know how other people do it. My school tends to go a little overboard with the work - it’s what they’re known for.

Anyway, my plan after spring break is block 4-5 hours daily studying for APs right after I come from school - this way I can’t make any excuses. I’m ditching some minor extra-curricular activities for the next few weeks as well and finish as much as work I can in school. I’m hoping this works.

Sorry for the long-winded post ---- Frustration is setting on me.

I can relate as well: 5 AP’s to study (including one self-study), 3 EC’s all of which im captain/president, swimming, hw from non-AP classes (like history grrrrr) and AP classes, SAT prep, 6-7 hour long competitions on weekends. But hey, it’s possible because im doing it right now. This is what college is like. Deal with it.

School is also interfering with my AP studying. Although I only have one AP class this term, work from my electives still requires some one or two hours everyday.

I have 4 APs… 4 other self-studies… 2 non-AP classes… Ugh I’m cramming as it is now haha.

lol and I’m just being lazy by not studying

@fresh101
Studying not going too well at the moment, hmm? And college won’t be like that because there won’t be stupid classes to attend that take away from study time.

I have a strict schedule set for the next month, so I know exactly what I’ll be studying and what days I’ll be studying it. I have a pretty busy schedule too, but weekends aren’t as bad, like you were saying. So I try to fit most of my studying in with what few hours I have on weekend mornings. I would recommend doing this, because if you set up your study plan to cover everything you need work on, you will address everything that you need to work on. As basic as it sounds, it has been working for me very well.

Yea weekends are so vital. I have 6 AP’s, of which I’m self-studying 4. I was telling my friend today that school is such a waste, precious time in which I could be studying for the other AP’s haha.

I’m in the EXACT same situation, bjld10, haha … self-studying 1 this year; 2 next year. How do you manage four? You have my respect.

Oh my god, it’s really comforting to know that other people are going through the same thing. I’m trying to keep that valedictorian spot on lock, manage all my ECs, and study for 6 APs, one of which is a self-study that I have not begun reading at all.

And college won’t be like that because there won’t be stupid classes to attend that take away from study time.

touche.

Well, I should also add that swimming isn’t really a sport. Its more of a pasttime. :)
