<p>The Unifieds are not a well-explained thing. It’s not like a conference where you sign up to attend, and then decide which sessions you’re going to. It’s just a bunch of colleges that all agree to be in the same city in the same building at the same time. The students have to arrange each audition individually with each school, not centrally in any way. Some schools arrange to be in the same city at that time but are not in the location of the Unifieds.</p>
<p>If you search the forum for the term “Chicago” you can come up with a bunch of information about Unifieds. The majority will be held in the Palmer House Hotel. There are a number of schools that are ‘formally’ attending, about 20, and another 20-30 who will attend at the same time informally. If you private message me I can send you the list of schools from 2 years ago that hasn’t changed that much. You do have to sign up for auditions way ahead of time, and many of the schools now require invitations to do so after submitting videos. I believe that the deadline has passed for most of those. A couple of schools will hold auditions on Sunday, most Monday and Tuesday all day, and some on Wednesday. I would recommend staying at the Palmer House and you can get your best prices there by looking at their website, calling about the Unified group rate, and/or checking the usual hotel booking sites over the next month. I wouldn’t wait too much longer, however. If you have not yet made appointments for Unifieds, and have already applied to the schools, you need to do so ASAP, as many fill up completely long before the audition dates.
