Finding volunteer work?

Here's another thread. I'll keep it relatively short.

I'm looking to do some volunteer work over the summer.
Preferably, something along the lines of math/science would be optimal and cherished (lab internship!!!), but other stuff like tutoring, etc. are also viable.

What did you guys do for volunteer/service prior to applying to colleges? What do you recommend?
Most importantly, where can I find/apply for a summer internship at a lab? Or just service opportunities?
How many hours did you guys get done in your high school years respectively from freshman to junior year (prior to EA applications)?

So are you looking for volunteer hours, or internship opportunities? As for labs, you could probably try emailing professors at a nearby university or college. (I know friends who worked in a lab with professors for their science fair project.) I don’t know about tutoring, but a lot of hospitals have volunteer programs, so you can probably check websites or talk to your guidance counselor.

Hospitals, email professors, local businesses (like physical therapy or doctors offices).
You’re really just going to have to email or call or google.

For volunteer work, I do a lot at my local library
